On the actual day of Thanksgiving dinner we ate at the only open restaurant which happened to be a small family owned Chinese restaurant (It felt a little like A Christmas Story but without the singing). The food was amazing and visiting in here was much better than lining up at the near by Walmart.
Although Thanksgiving is more of a state of mind than a bunch of traditions we still wanted to have a traditional Thanksgiving feast so we decided to have one at my house the next weekend. Shelby and Johnny did a spectacular job on showing Clay and I how to prepare some of our favorite dishes (could not get enough of the Pecan and Pumpkin Pies).
After the cooking we all went around and said what we are thankful for, which is a simple and common tradition but it really brings attention to the reason for the season.
We are thankful for all of our friends and family.
For the blessings that God gives us.
The trials that help us grow closer together as a couple and as children of God.
We are grateful for the opportunity to be
financially stable,
emotionally supported
and physically strong.
May we never take any of these things for granted.
